Restoring balance, one layer at a time
At BostonRolf, we practice the original Rolf Method—the hands-on system of Deep Tissue Structural Integration developed by Dr. Ida Rolf before it became known as Rolfing®.
Rolf sessions are slow, precise, and intentional. Using hands, forearms, elbows, and knuckles, we work directly with the body’s connective tissue, or fascia. Through skilled, responsive touch, restricted patterns are gradually engaged and encouraged to lengthen, unwind, and reorganize.
Rather than forcing change, the Rolf Method listens through touch—allowing the body to restore balance one layer at a time. As structure integrates and the body finds a more efficient relationship with gravity, clients often experience improved posture, freer movement, and a sense of lightness that feels natural and sustainable.
The result is not just relief, but a body that moves with greater ease—and feels unmistakably your own.
Your Rolf practitioner
Joel Gheiler is the owner and practitioner of BostonRolf and a Guild Certified Rolf Practitioner, with over a decade of hands-on experience working with the body through the Rolf Method, as originally taught by Dr. Ida Rolf, the creator of Rolfing®.
Joel began his path in Miami, where he studied deep tissue massage and myofascial release, developing a nuanced sensitivity to how fascia responds to slow, attentive, and intelligent touch. This early foundation shaped his approach to hands-on work long before his formal training in Structural Integration.
He later trained in Boulder, Colorado in the original Rolf Method, immersing himself in the system of Structural Integration developed by Ida Rolf—work that engages the fascial network deeply to support lasting structural change and improved organization in gravity.
Before opening his practice in Boston, Joel’s work took him across diverse cultures and professional environments, including high-end spas in Miami, pediatric rehabilitation settings in Mexico, and work with aspiring professional baseball players in the Dominican Republic. These experiences refined an adaptable, perceptive approach to hands-on structural work.
Today, Joel practices out of his Back Bay office in Boston, offering fascia-deep, hands-on work based on the Rolf Method of Structural Integration to athletes, former athletes, and individuals from all walks of life seeking greater balance, ease of movement, and a more embodied sense of well-being.
